Abstract

þ Human development in South Sumatra in 2015 continued to progress marked by the continued increase in the Human Development Index (HDI) of South Sumatra. In 2015, the South Sumatra HDI reached 67.46. This figure increased by 0.71 points compared to the HDI of South Sumatra in 2014 which amounted to 66.75.

þ In 2015, human development in South Sumatra was still in "moderate" status, still the same as its status in 2014. HDI South Sumatra in 2015 grew by 1.06 percent compared to 2014.

þ During the period 2014 to 2015, the components forming the HDI also increased. Newborns have the opportunity to live up to 69 years. Children aged 7 years have the opportunity to attend school for 12 years. Meanwhile, residents aged 25 years and over have on average been educated for 8 years. The adjusted per capita expenditure (constant 2012 prices) of the people reached 9.47 million rupiah in 2015, an increase of Rp 172.19 thousand rupiah compared to the previous year.
