Abstract

In March 2016, the level of inequality of South Sumatra's population (Sumsel) measured by Gini Ratio was 0.348. This figure fluctuates, decreasing compared with the March 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.360 and increasing compared to the September 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.334.
                                                             
Þ Gini Ratio Sumsel in urban areas in March 2016 amounting to 0.373, down by 0.017 points compared to the March 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.390 and up 0.019 points compared to the September 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.354. While Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2016 amounted 0293 decreased 0.021 points compared to the March 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.314 and increased 0.007 points compared to the September 2015 Gini Ratio of 0.286.
 
Þ During the period March 2015 – March 2016, the distribution of expenditure from the 40 percent of the bottom population is still in the category of low inequality but its distribution fluctuates, i.e. decreased from 19.27 in March 2015 and 20.51 percent in September 2015 18.86 percent in March 2016.
 
Þ The distribution of expenditures in groups of 40 percent lower in urban areas in March 2016 was recorded at 16.77 percent declining compared to March 2015 which amounted to 17.63 percent and 19.21 percent in September 2015. While in rural areas the distribution of expenditure of the population group was 40 percent lower in March 2016 was 20.86 percent decreased compared to March 2015 (21.28 percent) and September 2015 (22.83 percent).
