1. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in October 2016 amounted to 94.82 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2016 still decreased compared to the base year of 2012. However compared to the previous month, October 2016 NTP experienced an increase of 0.75 percent due to an increase in the price index received by farmers and a decrease in the price index paid by farmers.
2. The Agricultural Business Exchange (NTUP) of South Sumatra in October 2016 was 102.53 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2016 was better than the base year of 2012. And when compared to the previous month, NTUP in October 2016 fell by 0.06 percent.
3. FTT Without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in October 2016 was 94.74 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2016 also declined compared to the base year of 2012. However, if compared to the previous month, FTT without fishing in October 2016 up by 0.78 percent.
4. NTUP Without the Fisheries Sector of South Sumatra in October 2016 amounted to 102.36 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2016 was better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTUP in October 2016 actually experienced a decline of 0.05 percent.
5. Based on the FTT and NTUP subsector, in October 2016 the subsectors that experienced an increase in FTT compared to September 2016 were the horticulture, community plantations, fisheries and capture fisheries subsectors, while the FTT of the food crops, livestock, and aquaculture subsectors experienced a decline. And NTUP that experienced an increase namely in the horticulture subsector, smallholder plantations and capture fisheries subsector, while NTUP in the food crops, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture subsectors experienced a decline.
6. Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In October 2016, rural areas in South Sumatra experienced a deflation of 0.82 percent. Where expenditure groups experiencing deflation are food, clothing, as well as education, recreation and sports, while other expenditure groups experience inflation.
