Abstract

Ø IDI is a composite indicator that shows the level of democratic development in Indonesia. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of three aspects of democracy, namely Civil Liberty (Civil Liberty), Political Rights (Political Rights), and Democratic Institutions (Institution of Democracy). Ø In general, the value of the 2017 Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) of South Sumatra Province is 74.04 from a scale of 0 to 100, this figure is down 6.91 points compared to the 2016 South Sumatra IDI of 80.95. The value of the democracy index in South Sumatra Province has decreased and the level of democracy in the province of South Sumatra in the category of "medium" while previously "good". The level of democracy is grouped into three categories, namely "good" (index> 80), "medium" (index 60 - 80), and "bad" (index <60). Ø Changes in the number of South Sumatra Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) from 2016-2017 are influenced by three aspects of democracy, namely (1) Civil Liberties dropped 0.34 points (from 91.17 to 90.83), (2) Political Rights fell 18 , 04 points (from 81.94 to 63.90), and (3) Democratic Institutions rose 2.5 points (from 66.53 to 69.03). Ø IDI calculation methodology uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) review of local newspapers, (2) review of documents (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.
