Abstract

"The national peasant exchange rate (NTP) in March 2012 was 104.68 or 0.40 percent lower than the previous month's NTP due to the decrease of NTP of the Food Crops Sub-sector by 1.04 percent. In March 2012, NTP West Kalimantan Province experienced the highest increase (1.12 percent) compared to other provinces NTP increase. On the contrary, NTP Central Java Province experienced the largest decrease (0.86 percent) compared to other provinces NTP decline, while South Sumatra Province and Papua Province relatively stable. In March 2012, inflation in rural areas in Indonesia stood at 0.15 percent, primarily triggered by the rise in the Food and Dish Group indices. The Government imposed the latest Government Purchase Price (HPP) through Presidential Instruction No. 3/2012 dated February 27, 2012. Based on 1,760 grain sales transactions in 21 provinces during March 2012, dominated transactions of dry unhulled rice (GKP) 60.57 percent, 36.19 percent low grain, and 3.24 percent dry grain (GKG). During March 2012, the average price of grain quality of GKP at farmers was Rp3,621.41 per kg (down 12.87 percent) and in milling Rp3,692.51 per kg (down 12.76 percent) compared to the same quality in February 2012 , At the grain of GKG quality in farmers Rp4.269,25 per kg (down 8.54 percent) and in the milling Rp4.360,88 per kg (down 8.29 percent). Whereas low-quality rice in farmers Rp3.157, 24 per kg (down 11.04 percent) and in milling Rp3.222, 39 per kg (down 11.05 percent). Compared to March 2011, the average price of the whole grain quality group during March 2012 increased. In farmers, the price of grain quality GKP rose 18.78 percent followed by the quality of GKG (9.81 percent) and low quality (20.55 percent). While in milling, grain quality GKP (18.89 percent), quality of GKG (9.79 percent), and low quality (19.71 percent).
