Abstract
* The city of Palembang in May 2015 experienced inflation of 0.56 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2015 to May was -0.30 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (May 2015 to May 2014) was 7.56 percent.
* Based on seven (7) expenditure groups in Palembang in May 2015, all groups experienced an increase in the price index, namely the foodstuffs group by 1.75 percent; transportation, communication & financial services group by 0.43 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group of 0.38 percent; clothing group by 0,22 percent; health group 0.11 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group of 0.08 percent; and the education, recreation and sports group by 0.05 percent.
* Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share in the city of Palembang include: chicken, red chillies, air transportation, shallots, and eggs. While commodities that experienced price declines with the highest share of deflation included bricks, rice, cork, catfish and dencis.
* The city of Lubuk Linggau in May 2015 experienced inflation of 0.50 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2015 to May was -0.73 percent and the year on year inflation rate (May 2015 to May 2014) was 7.89 percent.
* Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest share of inflation in Lubuk Linggau City during May 2015 included: broiler chicken, broiler eggs, tilapia, garlic and vegetable tomatoes. While commodities that experienced price declines with the highest deflation share were red chillies, cement, sills, cayenne pepper and wheat flour.
* Based on the calculation of inflation in the city of Palembang and the city of Lubuk Linggau, in May 2015 the South Sumatra Province experienced inflation of 0.55 percent, the cumulative inflation rate up to May 2015 was -0.34 percent and the inflation rate was "year on year" ( May 2015 to May 2014) was 7.60 percent.
* Based on price monitoring during May 2015 in 82 CPI cities in Indonesia, showing that 81 cities experienced inflation and 1 city experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Palu City (2.24 percent), the lowest occurred in Singkawang City (0.03 percent). Deflation only occurred in the City of Pangkal Pinang (-0.61 percent).
