Abstract

* The city of Palembang in April 2016 experienced a deflation of (-0.19 percent). The cumulative inflation rate in 2016 was 0.24 percent. While the inflation rate "year on year" (April 2016 against April 2015) was 4.19 percent.

* Palembang City in April 2016 based on expenditure groups, showed that 3 (three) groups experienced a decrease in price index namely the transportation, communication & financial services group by -1.52 percent; the foodstuffs group of -0.41 percent; and housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel by -0.07 percent. Whereas 4 (four) expenditure groups experienced an increase in price index, namely the processed food, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group by 1.02 percent; health group of 0.57 percent; clothing group by 0,29 percent; and education, recreation and sports by 0.17 percent.

* Commodities experiencing price declines that caused deflation in the city of Palembang included gasoline, red chili, rice, air transportation and electricity tariffs. While commodities that experienced an increase in prices included: vegetable tomatoes, cooking oil, filter clove cigarettes, shallots and cung kediro.

* Lubuk Linggau City in Aprilt 2016 experienced deflation of (-0.75 percent). The cumulative inflation rate in 2016 to April was -0.12 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (April 2016 to April 2015) was 4.63 percent.

* Commodities experiencing price declines that caused deflation in Lubuk Linggau City in April 2016 included red chili, gasoline, shallots, broiler eggs and rice. While commodities that experienced the highest price increases were vegetable tomatoes, cabbage / white cabbage, oranges, house contracts, and instant dry noodles.
