Abstract

1. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in April 2016 was 94.55 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2016 still declined compared to the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, the April 2016 NTP an increase that is up by 0.07 percent due to the price index received by farmers is higher than the price index paid by farmers.

2. The Agricultural Business Exchange (NTUP) of South Sumatra in April 2016 was 101.77 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2016 was better than the base year of 2012. When compared to the previous month, NTUP in April 2016 also rose by 0.02 percent.

3. NTP without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in April 2016 was 94.37 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2016 also decreased compared to the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, the NTP without fisheries in April 2016 increased by 0.04 percent.

4. NTUP Without the Fisheries Sector of South Sumatra in April 2016 amounted to 101.51 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in April 2016 was better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTUP April 2016 decreased by 0 .5 percent.

5. Based on the NTP and NTUP sub-sectors, in April 2016 the sectors that experienced an increase compared to March 2016 were the horticulture, community plantations, livestock, fisheries, capture fisheries and aquaculture sectors. While the sector that experienced a decline was the food crop sector.

Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In April 2016, rural areas in South Sumatra experienced a deflation of 0.28 percent. The expenditure group that experienced deflation was the transportation and communication group and the foodstuffs group, while the other expenditure groups experienced inflation
