Abstract

Consumer Economic Conditions in the First Quarter of 2016

þ The value of ITK in South Sumatra Province in the first quarter of 2016 was 96.44, meaning that the economic condition of consumers declined from the previous quarter with a level of consumer optimism that was also lower compared to quarter IV-2015 (ITK value of 100.35).

þ The decline in household income has a profound effect on the decline in consumer economic conditions even though the level of consumption increases and the inflation does not affect household consumption.

C. Estimated Consumer Economics Quarter II-2016

þ Economic conditions in the second quarter of 2016 are estimated at 100.42, meaning that the economic conditions of consumers are expected to improve. The level of consumer optimism is expected to be higher than in the first quarter of 2016.

þ Improvement in consumer economic conditions in the second quarter of 2016 is expected due to an increase in income.
