Abstract
The 2016 cumulative inflation rate in Palembang is 0.90 percent. While the inflation rate "year on year" (May 2016 against May 2015) was 4.30 percent.
Palembang City in May 2016 was based on expenditure groups, showing that 6 (six) expenditure groups, namely the processed food, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group by 1.76 percent; health group of 1.55 percent; clothing group by 1.28 percent; transportation, communication & financial services group by 0.81 percent; foodstuffs group of 0.29 percent; and education, recreation and sports by 0.15 percent. While 1 (one) expenditure group experienced a decrease in the price index, namely the housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group by -0.03 percent. .
Commodities that experienced price increases that caused inflation in Palembang included gasoline, red chillies, rice, air transportation and electricity tariffs. While commodities have increased
prices include: vegetable tomatoes, cooking oil, filter clove cigarettes, shallots and cung kediro.
